3. MaxView File Types
A MaxView File consists of a Page List with image files, all associated documents and attributes that have been authored such as page descriptions, hotspots, annotations, saved scale and measurements. When saved with a licensed author version of MaxView, a document with the .maxFR file extension is created. This master index file is encrypted for use with MaxView's viewing applications. In evaluation the saved file will have the extension .maxEV. Pages can be raster image files natively viewed by MaxView, such as TIFF Group 4, Multi-Page TIFF, RST, CALS Type 1, BMP, and JPG. Scanned paper documents or original computer applications converted using one of MaxView’s Capture products are common methods to produce the above image types. Page support is also available for external documents. This enables virtually any MS Windows file type, such as MS Word DOC, Excel XLS, Adobe PDF, to be inserted in the MaxView Document Explorer file organizational structure thereby presenting navigation of a complete document set from one source. Digital Signature can be added with Secure MaxAuthor, MaxWebAuthor or PAYGWebAuthor using the Save as type: Create Secure Document option. Additional file types are available for use with the enhanced viewers, ie: .maxTK for use with Secure MaxTakeOff and .maxMU for use with Secure MaxMarkUp. MaxView will open files with the .SVD extension, authored by SourceView, a 16-bit application and predecessor to MaxView. Using the Save As command in MaxAuthor will rewrite the SVD file in MaxView format retaining the supported hotspot and annotation features and creating the .maxFR master file for general distribution.
